Condition codes
The full set of 23 van-line condition codes Van Line Pro uses to record pre-existing damage, with the furniture and box subsets.
A condition code records one kind of pre-existing damage on an item, exactly
as it prints on the official inventory. Van Line Pro uses the standard 23-code
van-line set. A code can stand alone (it applies to the whole item) or pair with
a location symbol to say where the damage is, for example
6CH = leg, chipped.

Important: Every condition on the inventory is a legal record. Note only damage that is clearly there before the move. When AI suggests a code from a photo, the crew reviews and confirms it before it lands on the item.

| BE | Bent | A rail, leg, or metal frame pushed out of true. |
| BR | Broken | A part snapped or no longer functional. |
| BU | Burned | A scorch or heat mark on a surface or fabric. |
| CH | Chipped | A small piece missing from an edge or corner. |
| CR | Crushed | A carton or soft item compressed out of shape. |
| D | Dented | A pressed-in dent on metal, appliance, or wood. |
| F | Faded | Color lightened by sun or age. |
| G | Gouged | A deep scrape that removes material. |
| L | Loose | A joint, handle, or part that wobbles or is unsecured. |
| M | Marred | Surface marks, scuffs, or blemishes. |
| MI | Mildew | Mildew growth or musty staining. |
| MO | Moth-eaten | Fabric or upholstery holed by moths. |
| P | Peeling | Veneer, paint, or finish lifting away. |
| R | Rubbed | Finish worn thin from contact or friction. |
| RU | Rusted | Corrosion on metal parts. |
| S | Stretched | Fabric, webbing, or upholstery pulled out of shape. |
| SC | Scratched | Surface scratches. |
| SH | Short | A part or piece missing from a set. |
| SO | Soiled | Dirt, grime, or general soiling. |
| ST | Stained | A discoloring stain on fabric or a surface. |
| T | Torn | A tear in fabric, leather, or a carton. |
| W | Badly worn | Heavy overall wear beyond normal use. |
| Z | Cracked | A crack in glass, wood, or a hard surface. |

Common box subset
For cartons and boxes, the editor leads with the codes that actually happen to packed goods. Boxes do not carry a location symbol, so these apply to the whole carton.
