What is Van Line Pro
A LiDAR and AI moving-inventory app that measures a home and produces an official, signed inventory document.
Van Line Pro is a moving-inventory app for iPhone and iPad. A mover walks a home, captures every piece (by LiDAR scan, photo, catalog pick, or dictation), records any pre-existing damage, and exports a signed inventory document. It is built for professional crews, estimators, and moving-company owners.
The one rule behind everything: accuracy
The exported inventory is treated as an official legal inventory of the move. An un-noted scratch can become a liability claim at delivery, and a made-up one is worse. So the app is built around a single rule:
Important: No item, no size, and no damage code lands on the inventory until a person confirms it. Everything the app measures, hears, or suggests is a draft you review first.
That applies to LiDAR measurements, to items you say out loud while scanning, and especially to AI damage suggestions. The app never auto-commits damage. You are always the last check before anything is recorded.
How it captures a home
You capture inventory inside a job (one job per move). Within a job you can add items in whichever way fits the room:
- LiDAR scan measures a room and sizes each piece automatically, with a real cube in cubic feet. See Scan a room with LiDAR.
- Photograph items shoots a room or a piece; with AI on, it drafts the list it sees.
- Dictate items lets you talk through a list without scanning.
- Add item picks from the built-in catalog, including standard boxes.
Every piece gets a permanent inventory number, one per piece, and carries its cube and an estimated weight. See A five-minute tour for the full flow from first scan to signed export.
Built for a moving company
- Multi-tenant. Van Line Pro is organized by company. Everything you capture belongs to your company's workspace and syncs to the whole crew. You either create a company or join one your admin already set up. See Create or join a company.
- Roles. People on a company are Admin, Crew, Estimator, or Office. Only admins see company-wide settings like branding and AI. See The three tabs.
- Offline first. Work is saved on the device first, then synced to the cloud. A dead spot on-site never stops you, and the data catches up when you're back online.
What you end up with
When the move is captured, an admin or crew member finalizes and signs the inventory, which captures the customer's signature and locks it read-only. Then you export a PDF: the full descriptive inventory with your company's branding, any condition photos, and the signature. That PDF is the official record of the move.
Good to know
- LiDAR needs a Pro device. The measuring scan runs on iPhone Pro models and iPad Pro. On other devices you can still build an inventory by photo, voice, or catalog.
- The AI is optional and company-wide. Cloud AI photo analysis is off by default and turned on by an admin. When it's off, the app falls back to on-device and manual capture. When it's on, every AI suggestion is still yours to confirm.
- Numbers are permanent. To retire a stickered piece later you void it (its number stays on record); you only delete a piece that was never tagged.
