Offline use and syncing

Capture keeps working with no signal, and everything syncs to your whole crew once you're back online.

Van Line Pro is local-first. It's built to keep working in a basement, a stairwell, or anywhere the signal drops, and to sync your work to the rest of the crew the moment you're back online. You don't manage sync by hand, it just runs.

Capture works offline

A dead spot on-site never stops you. Creating jobs, scanning rooms, dictating and photographing items, and recording damage all write to a database on your device first. You can build a whole inventory with no connection at all.

Tip: You don't need to wait for a signal to start a job. Capture now, and it uploads itself later.

Syncing to your crew

When your device is back online, your local changes upload to the cloud, and anyone else on your company sees them on their own devices. This works both ways: their changes come down to you too. Because syncing depends on internet connectivity, it happens whenever a connection is available, not at a fixed time.

  • Your work is backed up in the cloud, so a lost or replaced phone doesn't lose the inventory.
  • Your crew shares one live picture of each job.

Note: Because sync depends on connectivity, expect a short delay between capturing something offline and seeing it appear on another device. If it's been a while, see Sync and offline issues.

Your company's data is separate

The app is multi-tenant: every row of data is scoped to your company. You only ever see your own company's jobs and items, and other companies never see yours. That separation is enforced on the server, not just in the app.

Signing out clears the local copy

When you sign out or delete your account, the app disconnects sync and erases this device's offline database, so the next account signed in on the same phone starts clean and can't inherit the previous customer's files. Your data stays in the cloud and re-syncs when you sign back in. See Manage your account and Privacy and your data.

What to expect (and what not to)

  • Do capture freely offline. Nothing is lost.
  • Do expect changes to appear on other devices after both devices have been online.
  • Don't expect brand-new work to appear instantly on a teammate's device with no connection, sync needs a signal on at least one side to move.
  • Don't sign out mid-job on a bad connection if you have unsynced changes you care about. Get back online first so your work uploads, then sign out.
