Sync and offline issues

Fixes for jobs missing on another device, load errors, and stale data, plus what syncs and when.

Van Line Pro is local-first: you capture on-device, and it syncs to the cloud and your crew when there's a connection. Most "it's not showing up" problems are just sync catching up.

Jobs aren't appearing on another device

Work created on one device shows on another only after both devices have been online since the change.

What to do:

  1. Confirm both devices are online. Sync needs a signal on at least one side to upload and the other to download.
  2. Give it a moment, then pull to refresh or reopen the tab. Sync isn't instant.
  3. Confirm both people are signed in to the same company. Data is company-scoped, you only see your own company's jobs. See Team and roles.

See Offline use and syncing.

"Couldn't load jobs" / "Couldn't load the library"

If the Jobs list can't load, it shows "Couldn't load jobs" with a Try again button. The Library tab shows "Couldn't load the library" with the same Try again.

What to do:

  1. Tap Try again.
  2. If it still fails, check your connection and retry.
  3. If it persists, close and reopen the app.

Data looks stale or out of date

If a teammate's recent change isn't showing, or your own edit from another device hasn't arrived, sync hasn't finished bringing it down.

What to do: Make sure the device is online, wait a moment, then reopen the job or tab. Both devices need to have been online since the change for it to appear on the other.

What syncs, and when

  • What syncs: jobs, items, rooms, pre-existing-damage notes, signatures, and photos you attach, all scoped to your company.
  • When: whenever the device has a connection. There's no manual "sync now", it runs on its own and depends on connectivity, so expect a short delay after capturing something offline.
  • What stays local: dictation audio and any photos you don't attach to an item never leave the device. See Privacy and your data.

After signing out, everything's gone

That's expected. Signing out (or deleting your account) erases this device's offline database so the next account starts clean. Your data is safe in the cloud and re-syncs when you sign back in. See Manage your account.

Important: Don't sign out mid-job on a bad connection if you have unsynced changes you care about. Get back online so your work uploads first, then sign out.
